Roy Mexted is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, videographer, and arts facilitator based in Churchill, Manitoba. Originally from Australia, he has called Churchill home since 2017, creating music and media inspired by the North’s landscapes, people, and way of life.
Roy’s first album, Smiling Like a Sundog, captures powerful stories from the North, blending heartfelt lyrics with acoustic warmth. His upcoming full-band album, Bear 33, was recorded live in Churchill with local musicians, continuing his commitment to telling northern stories through music.
Beyond his music, Roy is Vice President of the Churchill Creative Collective, a leading organizer for the Winteruption Music Festival, and an executive member of both the Churchill Arts Council and the Aurora Winterfest committee. Through his business, Churchill Entertainment, he provides videography, livestreaming, sound support, and social media promotion for local and visiting events. He also hosts a regular local podcast under the Churchill Entertainment banner.
As the Northern Champions Coordinator for the imagiNorthern Network, Roy works to build touring opportunities, digital media skills, and arts leadership across northern Manitoba. His work blends storytelling, music, and a deep commitment to community and the arts across the region.
